Erica Giovannini si appassiona al teatro e alla danza durante l'infanzia. Durante gli anni del Liceo ha la fortuna di incontrare una professoressa di ginnastica che la indirizza verso lo studio del teatro fisico. È un amore a prima vista, il linguaggio del corpo. Inizialmente studia e lavora con la Compagnia teatrale Quellidigrock, poi frequenta l'Atelier di Teatro Danza presso la Civica Scuola Paolo Grassi di Milano e in seguito trascorre un periodo in Germania, ad Essen, per frequentare il corso della Folkwang Hochschule diretto dai danzatori di Pina Bausch. Durante gli anni di formazione, si manifesta con forza una tensione creativa che la porta a comporre spettacoli in cui la Danza cerca con ostinazione le proprie radici nel Teatro, e in esso si trasforma. Coinvolge diversi artisti nella produzione degli spettacoli. Ha collaborato con Eugenia Amisano, danzatrice e cantante genovese, negli spettacoli “Zeljane” e “Natasha”. Insieme a Francesco Campanoni ha prodotto “So Kind” e “La Stessa Luna”. L'incontro con Gyula Molnàr, autore, attore e regista, è stato fondamentale. Senza i suoi consigli e la sua preziosa supervisione molti spettacoli non sarebbero nati.
Erica Giovannini fell in love with theater and dance in childhood. During her school years, she had the good fortune to have a gymnastics teacher who directed her toward the study of physical theater. It was love at first sight, the language of the body. At first, she began studying and working with Quellidigrock Theater Company and, later, attended the Atelier of Dance Theater at the Paolo Grassi School in Milan. Following this, she spent a period of time in Essen, Germany, where she studied at Folkwang Hochschule, under the direction of Pina Bausch’s company. During these years of study, a tension began to emerge in her that would manifest itself more and more strongly an obstinate nearing of dance to roots of the theater that would come to transform her. Erica worked together with other artists in realizing the performances to which this force would give rise: the Genovese singer dancer Eugenia Amisano, “Zeljane” and “Natasha”. Together with Francesco Campanoni she produced “So Kind” (Dracula) and “La Stessa Luna” (The Same Moon). Her meeting with Gyula Molnàr, author, actor and director, was fundamental. Without his counsel and his invaluable supervision, many shows would never have come to be.
